Loading changes the build-up
Delivery vehicles, refuse lorries and constant turning movements impose far more on a surface than two family cars. The sub-base depth and the surfacing specification both step up accordingly.
Turning areas and bin collection points take the worst of it, and it is often worth specifying those areas more heavily than the general parking bays rather than uprating the whole site.
Drainage and responsibility
Larger impermeable areas generate significant run-off, and commercial sites usually need a designed drainage solution rather than an assumption that water will find its way.
Where a site drains towards a highway or a neighbouring property, that needs resolving at design stage. We identify it during the survey rather than after the surfacing is down.
- Heavier build-up at turning and delivery points
- Designed drainage rather than assumed run-off
- Bay markings and accessible bay provision
- Phased working to keep the site trading
Keeping the business open
Most commercial jobs are phased. We surface in sections so part of the car park stays usable, or work outside opening hours where the site allows.
That gets agreed before we start, in writing, with the sequence set out — so staff and customers know what to expect each day.
Markings and finishing
Bay layout is worth thinking about properly rather than reinstating whatever was there. Bay width, aisle width and the position of accessible bays close to the entrance affect how well the car park actually works.
We can lay out markings as part of the surfacing so the finished site is ready to use rather than needing a second contractor.

Frequently asked questions
How large a car park can you take on?+
We focus on small to medium commercial sites, forecourts and shared access roads. Tell us the area and we will be straight about whether it suits us.
Can you work overnight or at weekends?+
Where the site and any noise restrictions allow, yes. It is often the least disruptive option.
Do you provide bay markings?+
Yes, as part of the surfacing package.
Do you handle drainage design?+
We survey the site and specify a drainage solution as part of the quote rather than treating it as an extra.
Need a commercial quote?
Give us the site address, approximate area and your trading hours and we will arrange a survey.
